Creating homes for young adults in need
Every year, dozens of young people age out of foster care and group homes in Hillsborough County. A few may go to college, some may return to family members, but most are then on their own, taking into their adult lives only what they can carry in a plastic bag.
We at First Nesters believe that these young people are our children, the children of our community. Our goal is to encourage them as they begin this crucial step into independence by helping them make first homes of their own.
We provide essential furnishings (bed, dresser, sofa, table, chairs, etc.) and some personal touches, our “feathers.”
God has promised us a refuge “under his wings.” We believe that these first homes should be a reflection of that promise, a source of comfort and reassurance to these young people.
